Lieve allemaal,
Hello Nicolette,
It’s been an amazing month! We’ve had seven families come to GLA to pick up their kids this month, and three visit to file their US I-600 papers. It’s been a blessing to see families come together and to know that eventually each and every one of these kids will have that happy ending! It is truly a pleasure to be able to share a little bit of your son’s life with you and a few handsome photosJ.
Huguens sweet and gentle nature is not changing. Mid afternoon on Friday all the kids were outside playing with rain drops suddenly began to fall. “LAPLI AP TONBE!!! LAPLI AP TONBE!!” Huguens chanted with the other children. Meaning “The rain is falling, the rain is falling!” Sure enough gray clouds had rolled in and it looked like it was going pour. All 69 kids started to head for the doors when Huguens turned to his side to see Sé Ketlie (one of his nannies) removing laundry from the wall where it was drying. Huguens quickly rushed over to help her. He grabbed one shirt at time stacking them in a pile until there were four on top of each other, then he gathered them in his arms and walked them over to the laundry basket where he dropped them in without hardly looking and turned quickly around to get some more. Three other boys in his care group had also stopped to help their beloved nanny until all the clothes had been collected. Then the four boys grabbed ahold of the tall basket and drug it inside. Well pleased with her little men Sé Ketlie praised them up and down until Huguens start jumping and clapping with joy that he had been such a big helper.
Huguens got a new pair of pajamas last week. They are thinner and much more comfortable for the hot summer nights. He got to pick whichever ones he liked from the bin and he chose white ones with yellow stripes. Every night since after bath time he has raced in and grabbed his pjs from the pile anxious to put them on. After a little help and a zip up, he puffs out his belly, and rubs the soft fabric up and down over his tummy walking around aware of how cute he is!
With the adjustments of leaving off his diaper and wearing big boy underwear Huguens has had to forget about wearing so of his old pants. His waist is just not big enough with the diaper to keep them up! He forgets though and often when dressing in the morning he reaches for old favorites and slips them on. You’ll see him running through the yard with one hand behind him holding up his pants so they don’t slide down his tiny little bum. The other day he had gotten tired of pulling them up continuously and as he was playing with the latch on the door his pants slipped down to his ankles. He glanced down slightly and took note of the annoyance of his fallen trousers, but just didn’t feel like making the effort to pull them back up just then. Joyce pointed it out to him a few seconds later as she was passing by, “Huguens your pants have fallen.” He rolled his eyes at her as though to “DUH! You don’t think I already know that.” And then all the sudden feeling the need for privacy he walked over and hid behind the wall to pull them up, and then walked back out to play with the oh-so-amusing latch.
Huguens is healthy and growing. His current measurements are:
Weight: 30.5 lbs
Height: 90 cm
Have a great week!
Blessings,
Molly
Liefs Nicolet
